8 Things I Learned in September

When I look back over the things I’ve learned lately I see that September was a pretty interesting month!

  1. Pregnancy makes me weepy. I suppose I already knew this about myself, but the fact seems more prominent lately. I used to rarely cry, but now things that make me tear up include this book, this song, this podcast, and this article. And this movie made me sob, which has never happened before!

2. Meg Ryan is good at interior decorating. Sometimes when I’m at the library I pick up magazines that are outside my wheelhouse. In Architectural Digest (Nov 2016) I discovered that I like Meg Ryan’s Manhattan house, especially the master bedroom & bath.

3. Calgary is one of the cities in a bidding war for the new Amazon headquarters. I don’t know the details, but 50,000 jobs would be great for the city.

4. Mozart’s middle name may have started as a joke.

5. Sometimes forest fires create their own clouds (pyrocumulus), which can produce rain that puts out the fire or create lightening that starts more fires.

6. Two of my kids love avocado. Hooray!

7. I have been wasting time (and food) by peeling carrots. The skin is perfectly edible, but I’ve been peeling them out of habit.

8. You really can make good bread without kneading the dough. (Thank you to my friend Olivia who gave me this cookbook for my birthday.)

What did you learn in September?
