7 Things I Learned in November

Today I’m linking up with Emily P. Freeman as she shares what she’s learned over the past season. Without further ado, here are seven things I learned in November.

1. For the first time since 9/11 Transport Canada is allowing small knives (with blades up to 6 cm) in carry-on luggage. (However, they are still prohibited on flights to the U.S.)

2. Calgary’s New Central Library (under construction since 2014) will open in November 2018.

3. The full moons in different months have their own names, perhaps based on Native American, Colonial American, or European traditions. The November full moon is known as the Beaver Moon (or sometimes the Hunter’s Moon or Frost Moon).

4. Dr. Seuss wrote Horton Hears a Who! in 1953 after visiting Japan, a visit which caused him to take back the anti-Japan sentiments he’d held during World War II.

5. The Lion King was inspired by Hamlet. (I suppose I should have realized this, but in my defense it’s probably been decades since I saw the movie.)

6. The smell of mothballs is extremely hard to get rid of. (Tips, anyone?)

7. Prenatal Pilates 10 Minute Solution (five 10-minute workouts) is available on YouTube. (I own the DVD but have no working DVD drive or player!)

What did you learn in November?
