This is my third year compiling a list of “firsts” to post on my blog. At the end of 2015 I had so much to share, from riding in a helicopter to launching my blog to roasting a turkey. Perhaps 2016 wasn’t as chock-full of new experiences, but I did try my hand at making marmalade and agua fresca and had a few adventures, like flying solo with a baby.
Looking back over 2017, here are a few more firsts.

2. Saw the Pacific Ocean
3. Saw koalas (in the San Diego Zoo)
3. Won a contest to have a guest post published on another blog
4. Entered Pitch Wars (even though I didn’t make it, it was a useful experience)
5. Hung out at the wading pools at the Alberta Legislature Building in Edmonton
6. Taught my oldest child to read
7. Made apple butter
8. Made pumpkin pie from a whole pumpkin instead of a can
9. Visited Radium Hot Springs, BC
10. Took care of the kids by myself for five days
11. Had a professional massage
12. Made pastry cream (for eclairs)
13. Made a buche de noel
Yes, which is fool proof and I therefore make it all the time. By adding more cornstarch you can thicken it for eclair and cream puffs such a you make. Anyone interested can email me.
