Historical Highlights 141

Yesterday we moved into our rental house and this afternoon the moving truck dropped off our stuff. Of course, one of our priorities this morning was getting library cards! Now on to this week’s historical highlights.

Here’s an interesting post about the women’s suffrage movement in the UK (with primary source documents).

And here’s an article on “beautifully flawed” medieval manuscripts (with lots of pictures).

Barraccoon, Zora Neale Hurston’s book about the transatlantic slave trade, has been published 90 years after it was written.

Read about five women who “changed the course of maritime history.”

The Library of Congress has released more info about the photo of Harriet Tubman that was discovered last year.

Finally, an article from Australia: “How Captain Cook became a contested national symbol”

What are you up to this weekend? I have a lot of unpacking and organizing to do!
