  1. How long have you worked at the Dance Saskatchewan Resource Centre & Archives and how did you become interested in working in this field?

I have been involved with DSI since July 2014 when the Archives were coming into being.  I also worked in the University of Saskatchewan Library system for 23 years; though not in a library with an active Archive attached.

  1. What are your current duties and projects?

As the only Resource Centre & Archive employee my duties vary; set up and moving/relocation, serials, monographs, purchasing, cataloguing, shelf reading and shelf filing, re-labeling, and repair to name a few. DSI’s current Archive Project involves the transfer of over 100 VHS to DVD to continue in our effort to protect and preserve our dance heritage.

  1. Can you tell us about one of your favourite items?

I have several but one of my current favourites is John Hollaway’s, Illustrated Theatre Production Guide 3rd edition c2014 because it provides information on every facet of theatre management from jobs to scene building to all things tech.

  1. Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your work?

I am proud to work for Dance Saskatchewan Inc. (DSI) as it has the largest dance lending library in Canada and has been functioning as a systematic library since 1991.  DSI Resource Centre & Archives is designed to support education and the development of dance and related arts in Saskatchewan.  It is the fundamental goal of DSI and the Resource Centre & Archives to making dance accessible to all.  As an outreach centre we provide our materials and staff knowledge to outlying communities, not just the province’s major centres and assist youth working toward high-school and college credits, students of dance of all ages interested in the many forms of dance.

Thank you, Holly!

This is fantastic! Holly quickly learns your passions and involvement and is quick to point out new additions to the collection that may be of interest to borrowers. She is always searching out new titles and suggestions of resources to add to the wonderful collection that she manages for DSI! We are so lucky to have her!
