I’m not sure that compiling lists of unfamiliar words to create these quizzes is expanding my day-to-day vocabulary. However, it is a lesson in humility when I include words that I should know how to define by now!

Pleased that my etymological thinking paid off for several of these. The ones I had no clue about were bokeh and shehnai (which definitely sounded like it could be a place name in India, so I had
to choose between the Hindu funeral and Indian instrument…but guessed wrong.)
I also find it easier to guess words that have Greek or Latin roots.
