7 Things I Learned in March

Here are seven assorted things I learned last month. (Try keeping track of interesting trivia in a notebook or on your phone; it’s fun to look back at it at the end of the month.)

  1. Tortoises are sometimes used as therapy animals.

2. Daylight Saving Time was invented by an entomologist working in New Zealand.

3. Emily Carr had many pets, including a monkey.

4. James Herriot is a pseudonym. The veterinarian-writer’s real name was James Alfred “Alf” Wight.

5. Beverly Cleary is still alive (she’ll be 103 this month!).

6. Marie Curie was the first person to earn two Nobel prizes.

7. Salmonella can lead to arthritis.
