5 Things I Learned in November

November is already in the rearview mirror, but I don’t think it’s too late to share the interesting things we learned.

  1. Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, ran for president of the United States in 1844.

2. Judi Dench is president of the Bronte Society.

3. In Owen Sound Prohibition lasted from 1906 until 1973; it was the last “dry” city in Canada.

4. Here are the original words to the tune we know as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”:

Ah ! Vous dirai-je maman
Ce qui cause mon tourment?
Papa veut que je raisonne
Comme une grande personne
Moi je dis que les bonbons
Valent mieux que la raison.

Oh! Shall I tell you, Mummy
What is tormenting me?
Daddy wants me to reason
Like a grown-up person,
Me, I say that sweets
Are worth more than reasoning.

5. I didn’t know there were so many ways to tie a scarf:

What did you learn in November?

I am a Christian not a Mormon but we studied that religion a lot at my christian high school so I know a lot about Mormonism. I didn’t know that Joseph Smith ran for president though! That is very interesting.
