7 Things I Learned in September

  1. Barbados is preparing to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state (the last country to do so was Mauritius in 1992).

2. The president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is known as “Europe’s last dictator.” (I’m trying to skim international news headlines… we’ll see how long this lasts.)

3. Goderich, Ontario has the world’s largest underground salt mine.

4. On your birthday you can get any drink or food item from Starbucks for free.

5. Marie Kondo has a picture book (Kiki & Jax: The Life-Changing Magic of Friendship), as does Ann Patchett (actually two: Lambslide and Escape Goat).

6. I can get inter library loans, which I had assumed was impossible due to Covid. (Small blessings!)

7. Laser hair removal takes 4-6 sessions and up to nine months.
