6 Things I Learned in February

  1. Canada has the largest Ukrainian population after Ukraine and Russia.

2. Tim Hortons has launched a line of ice creams.

3. “Tirewoman” is an archaic term for lady’s maid.

4, Camel case is when a phrase is written without spaces and a capital letter is used to indicate separation (e.g. eBay, iPad).

5. A chiasm is a literary device where repetition of thought happens in an X shape, whereas antimetabole occurs when the exact words are repeated (e.g. “Unless I look on Sylvia in the day
There is no day for me to look upon”).

6. I noticed that the whole wheat flour I got from Arva Flour Mill is “wheatier” than the grocery store versions; I used to make muffins with 100% whole wheat, but I think with the Arva flour I should mix in some white.

I learned that the first step toward prolonging a poinsettia’s life until next Christmas is to stop watering it around Valentine’s Day. Then after its leaves fall off, I’m supposed to cut it back, and once it gets warm outside, put it out in the garden to get going again. We’ll see if this works.
