7 Things I Learned in May

So many different things I learned last month. The world is an intriguing place.

  1. You can now borrow ukeleles from my local library.

2. Soap operas are so called because when they began as radio dramas they were sponsored by soap companies (this also continued after the move to TV). Maybe this is common knowledge?

3. During Robert Browning’s lifetime, Browning Societies cropped up in the United States, where members read his work while eating brown bread in rooms decorated in brown!

4. A reverse French braid is called a Dutch braid.

5. Value Village is not getting fitting rooms back. So frustrating.

6. In handicap races horses have to carry different amounts of weight to equalize the chances of the competitors.

7. Queen Victoria has many things named after her, including a water lily, a plum, and a region of Antarctica.
