8 Things I Learned in January

  1. My ignorance about astronomy has been brought to light lately, as the girls and I are studying the night sky for school. One fact I learned is that when the moon is waxing it can be seen in the evening and when it’s waning it can be seen in the morning.

2. Did you know that the sun rotates once every 27 days?

3. My ignorance also extends to sports. I recently learned that in professional sports coaches and players can be fined tens of thousands of dollars for criticizing referees.

4. CDMX is the abbreviation for Mexico City (Ciudad de México).

5. PTSD can be divided into five types.

6. You can buy mechanical pencils with coloured lead.

7. White elephant parties are named after the belief that a white elephant is sacred and thus owning one is a burden because it cannot be put to any practical use.

8. The Frederic Remington Art Museum holds homeschool art lessons. Yay!
